Tunisia, Ahmad Pasha-Bey. An Order of Glory (Nishan al-Iftikhar), Muslim Issue, III Class c.1850
(Nishan al-Iftikhar). Type II (1843-1857). Muslim issue. Founded by Mustafa Pasha-Bey in 1835. On a silver-gilt plate, a special breast badge consisting of 23 rose-cut synthetic diamonds, surrounding a central protrude cypher of Ahmad Pasha-Bey composed of 21 synthetic diamonds, surmounting by the symbol of the Star and Quarter Moon also in synthetic diamonds, with encrusted synthetic diamonds shaping leaves on the bottom, plain reverse, measuring 30.21 mm (w) x 58.05 mm (h), presenting toned silver and wearing contact on the reverse, missing its loop suspension, accompanied by original breast ribbon, very fine.
This Order was conferred upon other ranks. It may have been awarded for gallantry. The knight's class was discontinued on December 31st, 1865 due to the re-organization of the Order.
This Order was initially awarded in a single class instituted by Mustafa Pasha Bey in 1835. In 1843, it was reorganized by Ahmad Pasha Bey, and expanded in 1847. Finally, it was reorganized by Muhammad as-Sadiq Pasha Bey in 1861.
