A large silver badge consisting of a ten armed star, with clusters of 3 rays in each quadrant, an unusual obverse centre presenting an unknown and unofficial Royal cypher in silver on a convex green enameled background, reverse with dual stays and principle pin assembly, privately engraved with "Tunis d.18 March 1877", hallmarked on reverse pin and reverse 12 o'clock arm with Dutch import/duty mark "vreemd" for used imported objects between 1906 and 1953, measuring 76 mm (w) x 75.6 mm (h), very fine.
This Order was conferred upon Major Generals. It may have been awarded for gallantry.
This Order was initially awarded in a single class instituted by Mustafa Pasha Bey in 1835. In 1843, it was reorganized by Ahmad Pasha Bey, and expanded in 1847. Finally, it was reorganized by Muhammad as-Sadiq Pasha Bey in 1861.
