History


The Distinguished Service Decoration is awarded to military personnel for their distinguishing actions while serving Chile.

It consists of three classes that are awarded for merit. This decoration is only awarded in time of war.

This Decoration can be associated with four different colored ribbons consisting of: yellow stripes with red if associated to the Armed Forces, yellow stripes with dark blue if associated to the Navy, yellow stripes with light blue if associated with the Air Force, and yellow stripes with green if associated with the Police Force. A clasp on the ribbon indicating the campaign or battle may also be present.

The II Class consists of two yellow stripes on the ribbon, as well as two stars on the suspension.
