The Order of Merit for Sport (Ordem do Mérito Deportivo) was established by presidential decree on October 15, 1954. It is awarded for exceptional achievement in encouraging sports in Brazil. It is the lowest award in order of precedence in the country.

There are two grades; Cross and Medal of Merit.
