History

The Medal for the Battle of Valdivia (Medalla por la Batalla de Valdivia) was authorized by the government of Bernardo O'Higgins in Chile, to reward those Officers and troops under command of Lord Cochrane, who took part of the capture and siege of the Spanish garrison of Valdivia on February 1820.

This Medal was also authorized with two different versions. The first featured a six-pointed star, and the second was an uncut hexagon.

It is not clear if the composition of the Meal denoted the rank of the recipient.

In MedalBook, this Medal is classified into two Types. Type I includes the star medal, while Type II consists of the hexagon.
