The Navy and Marine Corps Philippine Campaign Medal was established by the United States Navy Department on June 27, 1908. The Bronze Medal was awarded as a one-time service medal to Officers and enlisted men of the United States Navy and Marine Corps in recognition of service onboard ships stationed in Philippine waters or onshore in support of military operations during the Philippine Insurrection between February 4, 1899, and December 31, 1904. Approximately 4,300 Medals were issued to Marine Corps personnel, and 1,200 Medals were issued to Navy personnel.
There are 2 versions of the Medal for the Navy and the Marine Corps, which vary by the reverse inscription of the service name. In 1913, the same ribbon issued for the Army Philippine Campaign Medal replaced the previous red and yellow ribbon originally issued with the Navy and Marine Corps Philippine Campaign Medal.
Different numbering styles were used.
