A Vietnamese Air Force Northern Expeditionary Medal - American-made version. Bronze gilt, 33.8 mm x 34.5 mm, original ribbon with brooch pinback, the pinback marked "57", extremely fine. Footnote: Awarded to flying personnel of Air Force groups or foreigners, who have enthusiastically participated in air raids over North Vietnam (Democratic Republic of Vietnam) north of the 17th parallel.

History


This medal was conferred upon foreign or Vietnamese flying personnel for service in air raids over North Vietnam, north of the 17th parallel. The Air Force Northern Expeditionary Medal was authorized by Decree No. 032-a/CT/LDQC/SL of the National Leadership Council signed by Lt. Gen. Nguyen Van Thieu.
