History

This medal was conferred to Bulgarian civil and military personnel in recognition of excellent and long service within the fields of science, culture, and technology that had fostered development and growth.

There are two main versions of this medal.

The medals issued first were awarded from 1951-1960, and they feature the inscription "ČSR" on the reverse.

The medals issued second were awarded from 1960-1989, and they feature the inscription "ČSSR" on the reverse.
