History


The Commemorative Medal for the 10th Anniversary of the Estonian Defence Forces was awarded to members of the Defence Forces who began their military service between 1990 and 1994, and who continued to serve for at least 10 additional years. It was awarded in the 10th year of service. For example, those who began service in 1994 were awarded the Medal in 2004.

In addition, this Medal was awarded to recipients of state decorations who received recognition for contributions to national defence, recipients of the Order of Merit of the Estonian Defence Forces, members of the defence committee, as well as to defence ministers who were active from 1990-1994, and foreigners who contributed to the restoration of the Estonian Defence Forces. It could also be awarded posthumously.

The reverse inscription translates to "Ten Years of Restored Defence Forces."
