History

The Decoration for Meritorious Cultural Workers was established by the Council of Ministers in 1962. It was awarded by the Minister of Arts and Culture to Polish citizens in recognition of work in cultural institutions, organisations, and associations. It was discontinued following the collapse of the communist regime, but a similar award was established by the Republic of Poland in 1993.

The Decoration features an obverse inscription that can be translated to "Meritorious Cultural Activist."
