History

The Decoration for Meritorious Road Workers was established by the Council of Ministers in 1969 and was administered by the Minister of Communications and Public Utilities. It was awarded to road workers for meritorious service, which included cost reduction through the implementation of new technologies or competition, the implementation of health and safety initiatives, or the completion of projects ahead of deadlines. It was discontinued following the collapse of the communist regime in 1989, but a similar award was established by the Republic of Poland in 1997.

The I Class Decoration features an obverse inscription that translates to "Leading Road Worker."
