4th class, struck in Gold, on the obverse of the tughra of Sultan, Selim III on the reverse a crescent and eightpoint star surrounded by a floral garland. 36.5mm.

History


This medal was conferred by the Turkish Sultan Selima III, upon English Officers in recognition of participation in the Egyptian campaign against the French.

The size and grade of medal awarded was dependent on the rank of the Officer. Non-Commissioned Officers were awarded silver medals.

The obverse features the Sultan's monogram, and it is dated.
