History


The Cross for the First Site of Zaragoza was authorized in Spain by royal decree of 25th of March, 1817. It was awarded to the members of the Spanish Army who defended Zaragoza from a French siege in 1808.

The Cross features a reverse inscription that translates to "The King to the Heroic Defenders of Zaragoza."
