History

The Decoration of Bordeaux was instituted on June 5, 1814 by the Duke of Angoulême, but was later suppressed on February 10, 1831.

The Decoration was awarded to the Royal Guard of Bordeaux, to volunteers of Bordeaux, and to citizens of Bordeaux for their services in the royalist town on March 12, 1814. The recipients of the Decoration received it in addition to the Decoration of the Lily.

The Decoration was originally created as an armband, was later replaced by a medal on September 6, 1814.

There are two versions of the Armband. The first is a white silk armband with an embroidered shield at its centre awarded to the Royal Foot Guard. The second is a white silk armband with a gold, enamelled, and embroidered centre awarded to Royal Mounted Volunteers.
