This Medal was awarded to native and European personnel of the Forestry Service in Indochina for meritorious service. A maximum of 50 Medals were awarded annually to Europeans, and 30 to natives.
There are two versions of the medal which vary in shape and engraving. The first version has an obverse inscription that translates to “French Indochina,” and a reverse inscription that translates to “Honour and Merit, Forestry Service of Indochina.” The second version has an obverse inscription in characters which translates to “Watching the Forests,” and a reverse inscription that translates to “Forestry Service, Honour and Merit, Indochina.”
It is uncertain when the medal ceased to be awarded.
There may be additional versions which vary in composition or manufacturer.
