An oval medal constructed of silver plated bronze. The obverse centre bears the intertwined initials "FL" for Friedrich and Luise. It is surrounded by a border of leaves and flowers bearing the dates "1856", "1906", and "20.9" (20 September). The reverse is plain. Topped with a crown. On a loop for suspension on a red ribbon with yellow stripes. Weighing 11.5 grams.
The Wedding Commemorative Decoration was founded on September 20, 1906 by Grand Duke Friedrich I. It was established to celebrate his 50th wedding anniversary with Grand Duchess Louise. The decoration was awarded in a variety of forms to members of the Duke's family and royal individuals who attended the celebration.
The decoration was awarded in gold and in silver.
