History


The War Veterans' Medal, 1899 was instituted by Duke-Regent Johann Albrecht in commemoration of the Battle of Loigny-Poupry, and was conferred upon military personnel who had fought in that battle.

The design of the medal was modeled off of the Military Merit Medal (Militärverdienstmedaille für 1813-1815).
