History

The Dybbol Storm Cross was instituted by King Wilhelm I and was conferred upon individuals who rendered extraordinary services in both combative and non-combative roles during the storming of Dybbol in the German-Danish War.

The cross was conferred upon combatants, non-combatants, reserve troops, doctors, and clergy. The ribbon colour and pattern changed according to the recipient's role.

The cross for combatants featured a ribbon with a blue centre section and white and black stripes along the exterior edges.

The cross for non-combatants featured a yellow ribbon with two thin blue centre stripes and two thin white stripes, with one thin black stripe along the exterior edges.

The cross for reserve troops featured a blue ribbon with a black centre stripe framed by two blue stripes, and thin white stripes along the exterior edges.

The cross for doctors and clergy featured a white ribbon with three black stripes.
