History

The Hessian Regimental Commemorative Medal was established by Kaiser Wilhelm II as a commemorative medal for the 100th anniversary of Prussian command over Hessian troops.

Four medals were created, all alike in appearance, but differentiated by the anniversary date inscribed on the reverse of the medal.

The medals were conferred upon soldiers who served in the Electoral Hessian Army, the Electoral Hessian Cavalry Regiment, as well as in the I. and II. Hussar Regiments.
