History

The Medal "Merito ac Dignitati" was instituted by Prince Heinrich XXII (Senior Line) and was conferred for outstanding civil merit.

The decoration was likely awarded on a dark blue ribbon, with red stripes on each exterior edge. If the medal was conferred for life saving efforts, it was conferred on the Life Saving ribbon, which featured a black, red and white stripe.
