Physical Description
A cross bottony with decorated arms, constructed of silver. There is a small lily each in the spaces between the cross arms. The obverse centre medallion is smooth and features the number ‘30’, surrounded by the medallion ring inscription ‘FÜR TREUE DIENSTE’ (‘for loyal service’) followed by a small arabesque. The reverse is similar, except that the medallion features a crowned doubled and mirrored monogram ‘E’ inside a double medallion ring. On a loop for suspension, on a green ribbon with broad white side stripes.
History
The Long Service Decoration for Domestic Service was instituted on September 16, 1886 by Duke Ernst I. The decoration was conferred upon male and female domestic servants who had rendered at least 30 years of irreproachable and uninterrupted service with the same employer.
