A smooth circular medal with a raised edge, constructed of silver. The obverse features the right-facing portrait of Duke Karl Günther with oak leaves at the bottom right and laurel at the bottom left, with the circular inscription ‘KARL GÜNTHER FÜRST Z. SCHWARZB. SONDERSH.’. The reverse features a left-facing crowned and upright lion holding the angled coat of arms of Schwarzburg. To the left of the shield is the artist’s signature ‘P. FLIEGNER’. At the bottom is an adorned plaque with the inscription ‘25. JAEHR. REGIERUNGS-JUBILÄUM 1880 - 17. JULI - 1905’. On a loop for suspension, on a white ribbon with light blue side stripes.
The Commemorative Medal for 25 Years of Reign was instituted by Prince Karl Günther to commemorate the 25th year of his reign. The medal was conferred upon high-ranking state and court officials, including members of the state parliament, mayors, foreign heads of state, fire service chiefs, train station managers, leaders of industry, trade, and agriculture, officers and non-commissioned officers of the 3rd Battalion of the 7th Thuringian Infantry Regiment No. 71, and others.
Each medal was conferred with an award certificate. A total of 1,635 medals were awarded.
The medals were stamped by Paul Fliegner from Hanau.
