History

The Long Service Decorations were introduced on June 10, 1848 by Princess Emma, who was acting as the guardian of Prince Georg Viktor of Waldeck and Pyrmont. The decoration was conferred upon soldiers holding the rank of Sergeant and below who rendered 10, 15, or 20 years of loyal service. Alongside the award, each recipient was given an award document.

The II Class Bar for 15 Years was conferred upon military personnel in the active and reserve force who rendered 15 years of irreproachable service. The II Class Bar was also conferred upon members of the police force for 15 years of service.

The obverse of the bar features the initials "GA" flanked by oak leaves.
