History

Apart from the existence of the award, no further information is known. It was manufactured by Godet & Sohn, Berlin.

The award is in the form of a silvered cross made of bronze. It features a round enamelled centre, although variants with a gilt or silvered centre are also known to exist. The centre features a red griffin facing to the viewer's left. The background is diagonally split into a blue upper and white lower half. The cross arms feature the blackened inscription "PER ASPERA AD ASTRA" with one word per arm, read counter-clockwise and starting at the 12 o'clock arm. At the top of the 12 o'clock arm is crown with a stylised letter "L" below it, both in gilt.
