History

This Order was conferred upon members of the Armed Forces in recognition of 15 years of distinguished service and for increasing the reputation of the Hungarian Armed Forces.

There are three main versions of the Type II medals.

The medals conferred from 1953 to 1956 have the 1949-1956 emblem of the Hungarian People’s Republic on the obverse.

The medals conferred from 1956 to 1964 have the 1957-1989 emblem of the Hungarian People’s Republic on the obverse and gold coloured rays between the star arms.

The medals conferred from 1964 to 1989 have the 1957-1989 emblem of the Hungarian People’s Republic on the obverse and silver coloured rays between the star arms. These medals could also be awarded to civilians in recognition of distinguished service.
