History


The National Assembly of the Hungarian People’s Republic established this Order as a Hungarian version of the Soviet Union's Order of Labour of the Red Banner.

The Hungarian Order was awarded to Hungarians to recognize exceptional and meritorious accomplishments within the promotion of socialist ideology and the development of culture, the arts, and the economy.

The Type I awards feature the 1949-1956 emblem of the Hungarian People's Republic on the obverse on a light blue enamelled background. These Type I awards were conferred approximately 52 times.
