History


The Charles II Coronation Medal was instituted in 1661 to commemorate King Charles II English Coronation on April 23, 1661. The Medal was issued in both Gold and Silver. Gold Medals were presented to members of the royal family while Silver Medals were given to members of parliament, judges, and esteemed servants of the royal household.

The Medal features a reverse Latin inscription that translates to "The Times Having Been Turned Upside Down, He Has Been Sent to Succour Us."
