The Victoria Coronation Medal was instituted in 1838 in commemoration of the Coronation of Queen Victoria on June 28, 1838. The Medal was distributed among the crowds during the Coronation ceremony and was issued in Gold, Silver, and Bronze. Gold Medals were presented to members of the royal family, Silver Medals were distributed to esteemed peers of the royal household and members of parliament, and Bronze Medals were thrown to the crowds of observers.
The Medal features a reverse Latin inscription that translates to "We Shall be a Noble Kingdom to You."
