Yet another mystery for me! I can't figure out what this is. Measures 30mm wide by 37mm in length. Not sure of the makers mark on the back either.. M&U. Co?

Any thoughts would help.

Thanks!

Hi.
This looks like an "Un-official" medal. Early 1900-1914. Not later.
For sure, from Germany. Even I bet that from Saxony, (the green ribbon….) or from Bavaria, Lower Saxony, Rhineland, and Sauerland.
I checked ALL the cities, regions, universities, etc crests of Germany, on the useful "Kaffee Hag Albums", and I have not results with this crest.
Looks a lot like a "Society" medal.
In Germany this kind of associations or clubs, (Vereins), are massive. This kind of medals, worn on hats and jackets demonstrate loyalty to the local club and boast about marksmen victories.
Each club has its own logo or coat of arms, and the medals often resemble military paraphernelia. Naturally, the more you have to show, the better.
Even, could be a "Students" Society. (The billiard on the right lower part of the crest, the arm with a beer on upper crest, the arm with a ball in the hand, etc… )
It's not a "Carnival" Medal, they was & still are very popular in Germany.
Maybe coulld be a "Schützenfest" medal or an "Oktoberfest" medal.
Have a look on this, specially the picture number 9 : https://www.dw.com/en/get-to-know-the-concept-of-the-german-verein/a-48306152

Wow! Thanks for your effort and insights! It certainly makes sense to be a society medal, I haven't had any luck with the crest either. I plan to investigate more Oktoberfest medals - the arm with the beer stein is too perfect!

The link was also quite helpful to see other examples of these.

Thanks again,
Tom
