History

The ski uniform of the Hitler Youth was worn by all members during winter sports activities. It was introduced on October 7, 1933.

It was composed of several elements, including a brown pullover waist length jacket, dark blue calf-length knee pants, black boots with tan side-buttoned gaiters, and the HJ ski cap.

The jacket has two pleated buttoned breast pockets. It features a lace-up slash neck opening with a fall-down collar.

A regulation from January 21, 1941 addressed the ski uniform version for the Leader ranks. They wore long bloused pants (Überfallhose), or optionally a dark blue or black Keilhose – which are long tapered pants tucked into the boots –, black or brown ski boots, and either the service tunic or the Leader’s blouse. They also wore the regular HJ ski cap, since the service cap was forbidden to wear with the ski uniform.
