History

The Order of Glory was instituted between 1990 and 2001 as the United Arab Emirate's highest military award. The Order is bestowed in 3 Classes to military personnel of all ranks in recognition of exceptional or outstanding military service or for acts of gallantry and sacrifice. Qualifying service includes actions which result in heavy enemy losses, such as the destruction of plans and the defeat or capture of units or forces on land, air, or sea.

The Order may also be awarded posthumously to personnel who were killed during war or non-warlike operations in the call of duty or with a multinational force.

The Decoration features an Arabic inscription on the obverse which translates to "Order of Military Glory" as well as on the reverse which translates to "The United Arab Emirates The General Head Quarters of Military Forces."

Recipients of the II Class are entitled to a monetary award of AED 15,000 (approximately US $4000). Posthumous grants may be made to the next of kin of recipients of the award.
