Award Medal for the Victory over the Turks at Kinburn 1787. Bronze. 40.1mm. Novodel. By T. Ivanov. Chep 101, Bit H1227 (R2). Bust of Catherine II r./3-line legend and date. Issued without a loop.

History


This medal was created by Catherine the Great in commemoration of the battle at fortress Kinburn on October 1, 1787. It was the only Imperial Russian medal to be awarded by and to soldiers for the battle.

The obverse inscription translates to: "By the Grace of God Catherine II Empress and Autocrat of All Russias". The reverse inscription translates to: "Kinburn I October 1787".
