The Irreproachable Service in the Armed Forces for the KGB I Class Medal was established on January 25, 1958. This medal was conferred upon those who were members of the Armed Forces and the KGB, in recognition of 20 years of service.
The Type I medals were awarded from January 25, 1958 until May 2, 1960 and then again from 1968 until 1991. The Type I, I Class has two variations. Variation I is composed of silver and with a red enamelled star, hammer and sickle. Variation is made of silver-plated brass, with a red enamelled star, hammer and sickle.
The reverse Russian inscription translates to: "For 20 Years of Irreproachable Service".
