II Class (two-piece construction, in silver with blue, white and red enamels, maker marked "МОНЕТНЫЙ ДВОР" (Monetny Dvor) and number engraved "1459798" on the reverse, measuring 29.5 mm (h) x 41 mm (h) inclusive of its integral ring, suspended from its hanger in silver with light blue and white enamels).
The Order of Maternal Glory was established on July 8, 1944. The II Class medal was conferred upon mothers in recognition of bearing and raising 8 children. By 1991, 1,700,000 II Class medals had been awarded.
The enamel behind the inscription on the II Class is blue, and the shield is in white. The suspension piece is in light blue enamel with a white stripe in the center. The star is a separate piece that is attached by a rivet. the Monetny Dvor mint mark is under the rivet and the serial number is below the mint mark at 6 o'clock.
Variation I's suspension is mirrored on the reverse, and has a hand engraved serial number. The serial numbers range from 166,000 to 197,000.
Variation II has a flat suspension reverse and a hand engraved serial number. The serial numbers range from 236,000 to 558,000.
Variation III has a flat suspension and tool engraved serial number. The serial numbers range from 674,000 to 1,679,000.
The obverse Russian inscription translates to: "Maternal Glory". It also features the Russian letters for the USSR.
