A Soviet Order of Maternal Glory; Third class; Variation 2; In silver and enamels, numbered 551841, issued in 1950's.

History


The Order of Maternal Glory was established on July 8, 1944. The III Class medal was conferred upon mothers for bearing and raising 7 children. By 1991, approximately 3,000,000 had been awarded.

The III Class medal is only enamelled on the bow suspension, which shows a light blue base with two evenly spaced white stripe in the center.

Variation I's suspension is mirrored on the reverse, and has a hand engraved serial number. The serial numbers range from 75,000 to 368,000.

Variation II has a flat suspension reverse and a hand engraved serial number. The serial numbers range from 368,000 to 1,103,000.

Variation III has a flat suspension and tool engraved serial number. The serial numbers range from 1,059,000 to 3,018,000.

The obverse Russian inscription translates to: "Maternal Glory". It also features the Russian letters for the USSR.
