The Order of Merit of Upper Volta was awarded to citizens of Upper Volta for their professional dedication, skills, and long service. It was permanently discontinued in 1993 following the creation of the National Order of Merit. Recipients of the Order of Merit of Upper Volta were named to the corresponding grades of the new Order.

The obverse inscription translates to "Republic of Upper Volta," and the reverse inscription translates to "Unity, Labour, Justice."
