History


The Order of Ivorian Merit is conferred upon Ivorians in recognition of at least 10 years of meritorious service in the military or private sector, or as a civil servant. The Grand Master is the President of the Republic.

All members are received into the Order as Knights. Promotion to Officer may be made after 5 years, promotion to Commander may be made after 4 years, promotion to Grand Officer may be made after 3 years, and promotion to Grand Cross may be made after 3 years.

The Commander is identical to the Grand Officer, however only the Grand Officer is worn with a Breast Star. The obverse inscription translates to "Ivorian Merit," and the reverse inscription translates to "Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, Unity, Discipline, Labour."
