This Medal was established by Emperor Haile Selassie I in 1941 after the expulsion of Italian forces from Ethiopia. It was awarded in recognition of service against the Italian invasionfrom 1935-1941.

The obverse features an Amharic inscription in Ge'ez script that can be translated to "Star of Victory 1933, Unforgettable Achievement."
