History

This Order was established by King Hassan II in 1976. It replaced the senior classes of the Sharifian Order of Military Merit. This Order is a direct descendant of the Order of the Military.

It is conferred in recognition of meritorious military service. It was awarded to Officers of the Armed Forces in positions of command, instruction or preparation of national defence.

The Grand Cordon class was limited to 10 recipients.
