History

This medal was conferred upon members of the Army, Air Force or Prisons Service in recognition of gallantry.

The initials of the recipient may be engraved on the rim of the medal.

The Bronze Cross of Rhodesia was suppressed and replaced by the Bronze Cross of Zimbabwe in 1980.

Army awards have a red ribbon with white stripes.

Air Force awards have a purple ribbon with white stripes.

Prison Guards awards have a brown ribbon with white stripes.
