History

This Order was the highest civil decoration in Rhodesia, founded by President Warrant. It was also the second highest national award.

This Order was conferred upon military personnel and civilians in recognition of
acts of extraordinary bravery and gallantry in non-combat situations.

The Conspicuous Gallantry Decoration was suppressed and replaced by the Gold Cross of Zimbabwe after independence was achieved in 1980.

The ribbon may be decorated by a silver clasp.

The Order is very rare, and believed to have been awarded only four times.
