History

The Order of People's Friendship is conferred upon Burundian citizens, foreign diplomats, and other foreign nationals for contributions to human rights advocacy, the economic development of Burundi, social work, and other general contributions made to the development and reputation of Burundi abroad. It may also be awarded posthumously.

The obverse inscription translates to "Friendship of the People."
