History

This medal was conferred upon other ranks of the Police Forces in recognition of gallantry. It was also awarded for 18 years of impeccable service.

This medal was discontinued in 1963 as it was part of the first series of South African Police medals used from 1923 to 1963. A second series of medals was used from 1963 onward.
