History

There are four main versions of the Efficiency Medal.

Army Reserves awards have oak leaves on the suspension bar; Air Force Reserves awards have an eagle with stretched wings on the suspension bar; Police Auxiliary and Reserve awards have the balance of justice on the suspension bar; and Prison Auxiliary awards have a key on the suspension bar.

The name of the recipient may be featured on the reverse.

There are three additional versions of the Efficiency Medals for Police. They are distinguished by the number of yellow stripes on the blue ribbon. The Full-Time award ribbon has six yellow stripes, the Reserve award ribbon has four yellow stripes, and the Auxiliary award ribbon has two yellow stripes.
