History

The Royalists Salta Medal (Medalla por la Batalla de Salta) was created in Argentina by the Viceroy in recognition of the Spaniards who survived the battle of Salta on February 20, 1813.

There was authorized an unique grade in gold.

The Gold Medal features an obverse inscription that stands for "Por su Lealtad y Constancia Emigrado de la Provincia de Salta en 26 Febrero 1814,” which can be translated to "For the Loyalty and Persistence of the Emigrant from Salta in February 20, 1814."
