The Order of Industrial Merit (Orden del Mérito Industrial) was established by decree in 1954, and was regulated in 1984 and again in 1998. It was founded to commemorate nationals and foreigners individuals, and institutions, in recognition of meritorious service to the nation's industry. It may be conferred upon heads of state, heads of foreign missions, and cabinet ministers.

The Order's grades were Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Officer, and Knight.

The badge features the grade's name on the reverse.

The Order was abolished and substituted in 2012.
