History

The Order of Miguel Ramírez Goyena was created by the Sandinista government in 1982, to recognize Nicaraguan and foreign citizens for distinguished achievements in scientific and humanist fields. There is limited information regarding the Order's grades.

Miguel Ramírez Goyena (1857-1927) was a Nicaraguan scientific, botanist, and teacher. His best-known work classifies all the country's plant known until then.
