The Jose Gregorio Paz Soldan Order of Merit in the Diplomatic Service (Orden al Mérito del Servicio Diplomático José Gregorio Paz Soldán) was established in 2004 to reward Peruvian and foreign diplomatic and civil servants, in recognition of distinguished diplomatic service to the Republic of Peru, as well for extraordinary contributions to the foreign policy of Peru.

The Order's grades are Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer, and Knight. This Order is the highest award granted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Jose Gregorio Paz Soldan (1808-1875) was a lawyer. diplomat, journalist, and politician, who created Peru's embassy, as well as several embassies in neighboring countries. He created the first Latin America's congress of ministers of foreign affairs.
