The Order of Labor (Orden del Trabajo) was instituted by the Peruvian government on November 4, 1964, and it was regulated on September 10, 1965, since then the Order has been modified several times.

It is currently awarded to workers, employees, and academics, both Peruvian and foreigners, in recognition of meritorious service and distinguished action that have improved the welfare of workers, labor harmony, labor legislation and social security.

The grades of the Order are five, these are Extraordinary Grand Cross, Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander, and Officer.

The badge's designer was Armando Pareja Landeo.

The official maker is the Peruvian Mint, Lima (Casa de la Moneda, Lima).

There are known several design of the badge and the inscription varies on them.
