The Order of Brigido Iriarte was established in Venezuela on July 2, 1985. It is awarded to Venezuelans who have demonstrated distinguished merit in, and support of, the sport in Venezuela.

The Order consists of three grades: I Class Gold Medal, II Class Silver Medal, and III Class Bronze Medal. The Order has no breast star.

The Order was named after Brigido Iriarte (1921-1984) a Venezuelan athlete who competed in the men's long jump, javelin throw, and decathlon.
